Last updated: October 5, 2026

This page explains how to delete your account with American Auto Listings — the American Auto Listings app for iPhone and Android and the website americanautolistings.com, both provided by American Auto Listings LLC. One account works in both places, so deleting it in either one deletes it everywhere.

1. Delete your account in the app

  1. Open the American Auto Listings app and sign in.
  2. Tap the Account tab at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Under Settings, tap Account Settings.
  4. Scroll to Danger Zone and tap Delete My Account.
  5. Tap Delete My Account to continue, then Yes, Delete to confirm.

You are signed out and the account is deleted immediately. If you signed up with Google or Apple, the steps are the same — you do not need a password.

2. Delete your account on the website

  1. Sign in at americanautolistings.com.
  2. Select Account at the top right of any page.
  3. Select Account Settings.
  4. Under Danger Zone, select Delete Account.
  5. Type your account’s email address to confirm, then select Delete My Account.

3. Ask us to delete it (no app or password needed)

If you can’t sign in, or no longer have the app, you can ask us to delete your account:

  • Email support@americanautolistings.com with the subject “Account deletion request”, from the email address on the account if you can.
  • Or use our contact form, which starts the request for you — include the email address on the account.

Include enough detail for us to confirm the account is yours. In the words of our Privacy Policy (Section 11): “We aim to respond within 30 days or faster where required by law.” If you just forgot your password, you can also reset it from Forgot password? on the sign-in page and then follow the steps above.

4. When a deletion has to wait

  • You own a dealership. Delete the dealership first (its settings page has a Delete Dealership button) — that cancels its subscription and removes its listings — then delete your account.
  • You hold a dealership’s listings without owning it. Transfer those listings to another member of the dealership first, so its inventory stays online.
  • We are legally required to preserve information connected to the account, or a safety review involving it is still open. We may be unable to complete the deletion until that requirement ends or the review is closed; contact us and we will tell you what we can (Privacy Policy, Section 8).

5. What is deleted

  • Your private-seller listings, with their photos and videos, and any active listing subscription (it is cancelled).
  • Your name, email address, phone number, city, state and location on your profile, and your password. Your saved payment details are deleted from our payment processor (Stripe) along with your customer record there.
  • Your favorites, saved searches, buyer preferences and notifications — including notifications about you that sit in other people’s feeds.
  • Your dealership memberships, the push-notification tokens for your devices, and any pending email-verification or password-reset links.
  • Every signed-in session, on every device: you are signed out everywhere immediately.

6. What is kept, and for how long

A small number of records are kept with your personal identifiers removed, because the law or the safety of the platform requires them (Privacy Policy, Section 7):

  • A de-identified placeholder for the account, so that records which point to it stay consistent. It holds no name, email address, phone number, location or usable password.
  • Proof that you accepted our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy (which version and when) — kept as legal evidence, with the IP address and browser details removed. Dealer Agreement signature records are kept as legal evidence too.
  • Past sales (vehicles marked sold) as transaction history, with the seller’s name, phone number, street address and exact location removed; the city and state stay.
  • Billing records and subscription history, for as long as financial and tax rules require.
  • Support tickets, with your name and email address replaced.
  • Listing-view counts: each view stays counted, with your IP address removed immediately.
  • Messages you sent stay visible to the person you sent them to, shown as from a deleted user, until that person deletes the conversation.
  • An email opt-out, if you unsubscribed from our emails, so we never email that address again by mistake — matched by a one-way fingerprint of the address, not the address itself. Your recorded cookie choices are kept too, without the IP address or browser details.
  • A record that the deletion happened: when, how it was requested, and how many listings it removed, with your email address stored only as a one-way fingerprint.
  • Heroes Program (first responder / military) benefit history, as an anti-abuse record; the answers you gave to verify are erased.
  • Media fingerprints of uploaded photos and videos, which let us recognize content that has already been removed.
  • Safety records: anything we are required to preserve for a legal or safety reason — for example content reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, which is preserved for one year from the report, or longer under a legal hold — is kept until that requirement ends.

Every signed-in session on every device is revoked the moment the account is deleted. Aggregated or anonymized statistics are kept indefinitely.

You are welcome to sign up again later with the same email address; a new account starts empty.
